Collection: YUKUTAYA KILN

For generations, Okinawa has had a culture of cherishing and carefully tending to daily life. Born in Okinawa, pottery known as "Yachimun" has been loved by people as a folk craft, an art of the common people. Using Yachimun makes everyday cooking seem to taste even better, and simple dishes look more beautiful. Yachimun is not about displaying wealth to others but about cherishing oneself and finding fulfillment in that richness, fitting seamlessly into the user's lifestyle. Among the numerous Yachimun workshops in Yomitan Village, Okinawa, Yukutaya Kiln continues to spread its charm worldwide. Established in 2000 by Minoru Chibana and his wife, a painter, Yukutaya Kiln uses Okinawan soil, creates its own glazes, and fires Yachimun using wood in a climbing kiln. With the addition of the second generation, Kiyohito Chibana, they continue to create pottery deeply rooted in the joy of living harmoniously with nature.
